Hiking, Ultra Running, Running, Backpacking, Camping, Fishing and maybe some Cycling....
Where it Started.......
Since 2003, my outdoor passion consisted of hiking. After moving to NH in 2005, that really picked up and I was able to complete first the NH 48 4000 foot mountains and then the New England 67 4000 foot mountains. I am currently working on the winter NH 48 4000 foot mountains which will take several years at least to finish. Pictured to the left was a shot taken during my winter ascent of 6,288 foot Mt. Washington. The mountain lists and my progress are in the file below this section.
Hiking was my introduction to the woods and taken me throughout New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. I also did some hiking in Las Vegas; which I appreciated much more than any gambling. On this site and my blog I will document my hikes and hopefully provide some details on mountains, routes and places to see. Pictures of my hikes can be found by clicking this link. The link to my hiking blog is above.

Getting away from it all......
After spending so much time in the woods I wanted to increase my appreciation by spending nights in the woods along with the days. There have been a couple of amazing trips to Baxter State Park in northern Maine, a week long trip on the John Muir Trail in California and camping trips in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
The best part has been sharing the camping trips with my son Jason and we enjoy planning our annual trips. Future goals are to go on several camping trips per year and continue the annual friends trip to Baxter State Park or other trip. I would like to get back to California some day and do the whole 211 miles of the John Muir Trail as well.
I plan on documenting trips on this site and provide details on places we have been. The link to my backpacking and camping blog is above.

And now for something completely different.....
OK, maybe not so much. In 2009 I learned of the world of Ultra Running. I knew that the days of running had stopped due to various injuries but after looking around there are plenty of Ultra events around on trails in which you can do some running and power hiking and complete with in the time limits.
Coming into 2011, I am in the best shape I have been in for a long time and seem to be able to run more. The short term goal is to complete Ultra events, perhaps up to 100 miles and then cut back and try to go faster at short events over the next few years.
On this site and blog I will track my training and races which will include details on the events themselves. The link to my Ultra Running blog is above.
No pictures of Ultra's yet, but hope so soon!
